People Want Number of Tobacco Retailers Restricted

Tobacco products are accessible to teens throughout New York State, in part due to the number of licensed retailers in New York communities. The number of licensed tobacco retailers directly affects youth smoking behaviors and youth access to tobacco products. There is currently one tobacco retailer for every 194 children in New York State. An alarming statistic considering the fact that teen smoking rates have leveled over the past year. Twenty percent of youth usually obtain their cigarettes by purchasing them in retail stores. Tobacco sales to minor are correlated with tobacco retail outlet density. Tobacco Restrictions in Wales

girls brake cigarettes The Welsh Assembly has announced plans to introduce further tobacco controls in a bid to reduce the number of young people taking up smoking. Research has shown that the display of cigarettes and other tobacco products in shops can encourage young people to try smoking and that two-thirds of adults who have ever smoked started before the age of 18 with most buying their cigarettes from self-service vending machines. This is a very interesting way to see the problem and to solve it. The proposed measures would see a ban on cigarette vending machines and the display of tobacco products in shops.
