China takes important decisions regarding smoking phenomenon.

China is a country which has millions of people. It is one of the most populated places on the Earth. There is a smoking problem too, that is why the authorities are trying to solve it by banning cigarette smoking in any indoor public place. This law is active in seven capitals and there is a hope that the same ban will be active in the whole country. All of these actions were taken because it was noticed that Chinese people have more health problems than in the last couple of years. China is the world’s bigger cigarette and tobacco products consuming nation. They have to very careful about this and not let the smoking phenomenon lead their lives.

By banning smoking cigarettes indoor public places, there could appear some resistance from some local government and tobacco retailers, which have great benefits from tobacco taxes.

In China smoking is a huge business, because there are sold more than 2 trillion of cigarettes every year. In China there are over than one-quarter of the world’s 1.3 billion smokers, almost 3 percent of women who are smoking and more than 60 percent of Chinese men who have the smoking habit.

Qu Yan said that their goal is to make in those seven provincial capitals a 100 percent smoke–free environment in indoor workplaces and public places. Qu Yan represents an official with the government’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Tianjin is one of the biggest commercial centers in China. We can find it on the northern coast of the country and there is another place in the southwest which is also very well known- Chongqing. In these two places the risk from direct smoking and second hand smoking is very big, because it is an often visited place. So they have to take in consideration all of the threats that can affect their health like: industrial waste, threats from traffic, polluted water and air.
