Catherine-Zeta Jones “struggles” with Michael Douglas’ throat cancer

The “Wallstreet” star Douglas suffers from throat cancer which is on its Stage IV.  His wife says if the cancer was detected earlier, Douglas would have an increased chances of beating it.In a recent interview, Michael Douglas said his doctors informed him he has 80% chance of recovery.

Catherine-Zeta Jones told People that she has struggled watching her husband slowed down by the effect of cancer treatment”The hardest part is seeing his fatigue,” Zeta-Jones said, “because Michael is never tired.”

The actress also shared that Michael Douglas had told their children that he has cancer. The couple has two children Dylan, 10 and Cary’s 7.

“Daddy sat them down and told them he has cancer now,” Zeta-Jones said.Michael Douglas has smoked for decades and now has a tumour in his throat. He told David Letterman last Tuesday: “I am head and neck, I am above the neck, so nothing’s gone down and the expectations are good.”

He had begun a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy to try and beat the cancer. “The percentages are very good. I would hate to say, but right now, it looks like it should be 80 percent, and with certain hospitals and everything, it does improve.”

Douglas is a pillar in the Hollywood film industry  starring in more than 40 films, including  ”Fatal Attraction” (1988), “Wall Street” (1988), “War of the Roses” (1990), “Basic Instinct” (1992) and “Traffic” (2001).Douglas’s most recent film, the Oliver Stone-directed “The Money Never Sleeps,” is due to hit movie theaters in the United States later this month.  It is the sequel to the 1987 box office hit “Wall Street” where his performance earned hims an Oscar for Best Actor.
