Alberta launch $ 10 billion lawsuit against big tobacco

The Government of Alberta in the final touches on one of the largest legal action in the history of the region in an attempt to restore the decade’s worth of medical expenses from the tobacco industry. $ 10 billion lawsuit is going to be filed within the next two weeks, starting the trial are expected to attend dozens of lawyers and take several years of imprisonment. Alberta will be the fifth province to sue big tobacco, the accession of British Columbia, Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador. Representatives of the hundreds of thousands of African tobacco farmers will gather at the International Tobacco Manufacturers’ Association African Regional Meeting of 28 – 30 May to discuss the outrageous recommendations developed by international regulatory bodies that may destroy their livelihoods. Altria is preparing to launch less nicotine tobacco drive

Smokers support for stricter regulation and eventual prohibition

Smokers strongly support tighter regulation of the tobacco industry, and nearly half support a complete ban for ten years, the University of Otago research has shown. The recently published study found 65 percent of the more than 1,300 smokers, tobacco companies agreed to be more tightly regulated. Support for stricter regulation was stronger among the Maori, with 70 percent in favor and the Pacific Islands, with 74 percent. Smokers are under financial pressure, are also more likely to agree.
